Today’s Psalm of the Day: Psalm 5
Psalm 5 — A Prayer for Guidance and Protection
To the choirmaster: for the flutes. A Psalm of David.
Give ear to my words, O Yahuah;
consider my groaning.
Give attention to the sound of my cry,
my King and my Elohim,
for to You do I pray.
O Yahuah, in the morning You hear my voice;
in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for You and watch.
For You are not an Elohim who delights in wickedness;
evil may not dwell with You.
The boastful shall not stand before Your eyes;
You hate all evildoers.
You destroy those who speak lies;
Yahuah abhors the bloodthirsty and deceitful man.
But I, through the abundance of Your steadfast love,
will enter Your house.
I will bow down toward Your holy temple
in the fear of You.
Lead me, O Yahuah, in Your righteousness
because of my enemies;
make Your way straight before me.
For there is no truth in their mouth;
their inmost self is destruction;
their throat is an open grave;
they flatter with their tongue.
Make them bear their guilt, O Elohim;
let them fall by their own counsels;
because of the abundance of their transgressions cast them out,
for they have rebelled against You.
But let all who take refuge in You rejoice;
let them ever sing for joy,
and spread Your protection over them,
that those who love Your name may exult in You.
For You bless the righteous, O Yahuah;
You cover him with favor
as with a shield.
Companion Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–18
Trust in Yahuah with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make straight your paths.
Be not wise in your own eyes;
fear Yahuah, and turn away from evil.
It will be healing to your flesh
and refreshment to your bones.
Honor Yahuah with your wealth
and with the firstfruits of all your produce;
then your barns will be filled with plenty,
and your vats will be bursting with wine.
My son, do not despise Yahuah’s discipline
or be weary of His reproof,
for Yahuah reproves him whom He loves,
as a father the son in whom he delights.
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom,
and the one who gets understanding,
for the gain from her is better than gain from silver
and her profit better than gold.
She is more precious than jewels,
and nothing you desire can compare with her.
Long life is in her right hand;
in her left hand are riches and honor.
Her ways are ways of pleasantness,
and all her paths are peace.
She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her;
those who hold her fast are called blessed.
Daily Blessing
May your heart rise early to seek Yahuah and to listen for His voice before the noise of the day begins. Let His righteousness guide your steps and make every crooked path straight before you. May wisdom guard your thoughts and truth establish your ways. Let every fear be silenced beneath the covering of His favor. May His shield surround your household with peace and protection. Let joy rise within you as you take refuge in His presence. Walk today with confidence, knowing that Yahuah hears every sincere prayer and faithfully leads those who trust in Him.
Reflection
Psalm 5 reminds us that each day begins best when it begins before Yahuah. David teaches us to come before Him in reverence, honesty, and expectation. This psalm contrasts the way of righteousness with the way of deceit and calls us to choose truth, purity, and trust. When we seek His direction first, He straightens our path and surrounds us with favor like a shield.
Daily Reminder
Begin this third day by bringing your thoughts, plans, and concerns before Yahuah. Walk deliberately in truth, reject compromise, and choose obedience in every decision. Let your life reflect trust in His guidance and confidence in His protection.
