Psalm 96 — Sing to Yahuah a New Song

Sing to Yahuah a new song!
Sing to Yahuah, all the earth.

Sing to Yahuah!
Bless His name!
Proclaim His salvation from day to day!

Declare His glory among the nations,
His marvelous works among all the peoples.

For Yahuah is great, and greatly to be praised!
He is to be feared above all elohim.

For all the elohim of the peoples are idols,
but Yahuah made the heavens.

Honor and majesty are before Him.
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.

Ascribe to Yahuah, you families of nations,
ascribe to Yahuah glory and strength.

Ascribe to Yahuah the glory due to His name.
Bring an offering, and come into His courts.

Worship Yahuah in holy array.
Tremble before Him, all the earth.

Say among the nations, “Yahuah reigns.”
The world is also established.
It can’t be moved.
He will judge the peoples with equity.

Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice.
Let the sea roar, and its fullness!

Let the field and all that is in it exult!
Then all the trees of the woods shall sing for joy

before Yahuah; for He comes.
For He comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness,
the peoples with His truth.

from everlasting even to everlasting.

Reflection

Psalm 96 calls all the earth to worship Yahuah with a new song. This is more than singing with the mouth; it is a call for the whole life to proclaim His salvation from day to day. His glory is not meant to be hidden among His people only, but declared among the nations so all peoples can see His marvelous works.

This Psalm lifts our eyes above idols, fear, confusion, and the noise of the world. Yahuah alone made the heavens, and honor, majesty, strength, and beauty are before Him. On the Sabbath, this reminds us to rest not only from labor, but also from anxiety, striving, and misplaced trust.

Creation itself joins the praise: the heavens are glad, the earth rejoices, the sea roars, the fields exult, and the trees sing for joy. Everything made by Yahuah bears witness that He reigns. His coming judgment is not presented as terror for the faithful, but as hope, because He judges with righteousness and truth.

Psalm 96 is a Sabbath reminder that worship should be fresh, reverent, joyful, and public. We sing because Yahuah reigns, we rest because His world is established, and we rejoice because His truth will prevail.
